Clinical & Forensic Psychologist
Dr. Samantha Litt is a licensed clinical & forensic psychologist and owner of West Coast Forensic & Clinical Psychology. She is a licensed psychologist in Washington and Oregon. Dr. Litt earned a Masters degree in Forensic Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, NY. Her research focused on
the manifestation and assessment of psychopathic traits in juvenile forensic populations.
Dr. Litt earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, with a concentration in forensic psychology, from Palo Alto University in Palo Alto, CA. She completed clinical training at a drug court diversion program and a state psychiatric hospital within a correctional facility. While at Palo Alto University, her research focused on
juvenile forensic issues, psychopathy, and intimate partner sexual violence. She also served as the Vice President of Professional Affairs for the Forensic Mental Health Student Group. Dr. Litt completed her internship at South Florida State Hospital, where she completed rotations in forensic evaluation and
treatment, psychological assessment, and specialized behavior planning.
After completing her PhD, Dr. Litt decided to further her clinical expertise in forensic psychology. She completed a postdoctoral residency at Oregon State Hospital, where she provided assessment and restoration services on a high acuity women's competency restoration unit. She also participated in a volunteer committee intended to improve the quality of treatment and resources for patients who
identify as LGBTQ.
Dr. Litt was previously employed by Western State Hospital in Lakewood, Washington. While at WSH,
she provided assessment and treatment monitoring services for patients on a competency restoration ward. She later joined the evaluation team, where she conducted civil commitment evaluations and provided expert testimony when necessary. She also conducted violence risk assessments to assist in determining eligibility for discharge and risk prevention planning.
Dr. Litt has been employed as a forensic evaluator with the Office of Forensic Mental Health Services (OFMHS) since 2022. She has expertise in assessing competency to stand trial, having completed hundreds of forensic evaluations in Washington. and has served as an expert witness in court. She is passionate about correctional issues, including improved quality and access to mental health services in correctional facilities.
